Hello fellow collectors,

there is a problem with my pair of cuffs and I hope there is an expert out there who can help...

I have a pair of Hiatt Lady Darbies, which came without the key.

First, I thought "No problem. The screw key of my other Hiatt cuffs will open them".

But I found out that there is a problem, although the types of thread seem to be the same:

The bolt in the lady cuff doesn't seem to be threaded over the full length (is this unusual?).

I screw in my key. Its end hits the end of the threaded part of the bolt before the cuff can open.

The upper part of the picture (call me Picasso) explains my problem. On the right you can see the non-working key "in action".

The lower part of the picture shows a key which should work. Does anybodys Hiatt key look like this??? Maybe the Lady darbie's keys are different due to the very short lock case?

Any comment is welcome!

Best wishes,

Andy
