Dear Klaus,
The new Darby products are made out of a cast metal alloy and the casting is often not as accurate as the fits that were allowed by the old manufacturing methods. After the threaded part of the locking bolt, the bolt takes on a square shape. What may have happened is that the square hole which is part of the cast lock tube body may not be cast properly and the square part of the locking bolt has slightly rotated within the body of the cuff. This could cause the locking bolt to jam and not be retractable by the key. I would return the cuffs for another set. Best regards, Steve Santini
