Dear Steve,

First I have to say that this morning I had a really good look
into the keyhole and then proceeded to some DIY activity
alternating the use of hammer, screwdriver and the key.
Now the cuff does open as it is supposed to.

Bottom line - the cuff had been galvanised while being shut.
I assume this led to some buildup of material in the keyhole
which prevented the bolt from being pulled back and also
getting stuck or jammed once I turned the key
(if it had not been stuck already).

And after being galvanised I was the first person trying to open it.

So the material is not to blame for this one,
but shoddy working practice certainly is.

Cheers
Klaus
