Dear fellow collectors,

here are some questions for the experts:

Does anyboy know anything about these Hiatt darby handcuffs (the lower pair on the photo)?

How old are they and where have they been used?
How many of them have been produced? How many may still exist?
(The only pair I know of can be found in Yossie's collection).

I suppose that there haven't been produced many of them because naturally there was no need for many ladies' cuffs :-)

On the photo you can see them in comparison to the chrome plated Hiatt superintendent/detective darbies.
The picture also shows their very small size.

The opening is 2" x 1½"(5.1cm x 3.8cm) - they are definitely smaller than the "Hiatt Escort" or other Hiatt darbies that are often referred to as "Lady darbies".

They are not chrome plated.
Stamped "HIATT BEST", "WARRANTED WROUGHT" and "45".

Any information is highly appreciated.

Regards

Stefan
