LA City uses S&W cuffs. LA County Sheriff had an incident where a suspect claimed his hands were cut due to the sharp edges on the Hiatts 2010 cuffs. I assume for legal or political reasons, the deputies were ordered to turn them in. Hiatts is concerned because it could mean a loss of business with other departments. The 2010 cuffs in question are several years old. There was no mention as to how violent the suspect was.
