Eric, Sorry to tell you, but your Civil War era handcuffs are more like Gulf War era....if they are even that old. These are reported to be manufactured in India or Pakistan within the last few years. You will find vast amounts of these on ebay and every one of them will have the original key with matching numbers. Some will even have a metal tag with the name "Porter-dealer in slaves". Ebay auction bidders have paid hundreds for these. Please come back to this site to do your research before you spend the money.
p.s. Joe, how about a fake handcuff gallery/category? Perhaps people will be able to save their money so they could buy and sell quality cuffs.
