The Chicago darbies are in fact made of cast brass which is then nickel plated. The casting is better than on the current Hiatt Thompson darbies and the material is stronger (hence they will not break or malfunction as easily). Also, the end caps are put on in such a way that they will not easily pop out like I have seen on many current Hiatt alloy darbies. My personal score... Chicago 8 out of 10, Hiatt 4 out of 10.
