I have recently acquired a large collection of Medieval period leg shackles from Europe. These things resemble American "slave shackles" but are made with MUCH heavier hand forged construction. None have keys but they still are a fine and excellent example of early iron hand made restraints. They were found while metal detecting near the ruins of an old castle near the Russian border. I am selling them for $300.00 USD per set. In my opinion, these sorts of restraints are more rare than many North American "patent" irons and are of a quality which could easily belong in museum collections.They are indeed items which no serious collector of restraints should be without.
