: Thought I would write regarding my thoughts on people that try to buy items on ebay before the close. Although a relatively new bidder and seller on ebay it seems there are collectors out their who contact the seller, make an offer in an effort for the seller to withdraw the item. Why? okay many of us have been very disappointed at being outbid seconds before the auction ends but thats life. Surely if you are interested in bidding on an item you have an idea of your maximum bid and when the auction ends you find it sold for $5- more than your best bid you must accept it - you do not know what value the successful bidder was prepared to offer so that extra little $5 may have been $500-
: I have been contacted in the past to ask what price I would accept on certain items and always maintain that once an item is listed its too late to withdraw it (the only problem I have had is when I offered a Victorian Police Wooden Rattle + Truncheon. Seems that a truncheon is classed as an offensive weapon and ebay withdrew them). My own feelings are that any bidder who offers to buy an item before the end of the auction or any seller who withdraws an item simply because he sells it before the close should have a 3 month ban on them.
: I welcome any other comments from bidders. Keep up the good work.
