Hiatt with two T

Hello fellow collectors,

there is an auction (item #1037433734) currently running at eBay which offers a Plug-8-Handcuff. And this handcuff is marked "Hiatt" with two T's! At http://www.hiatt-thompson.com/ (Company History) you can read "During the dark days of the winter of 1940, when Birmingham was getting frequent air raids of from 6 to 12 hours duration at night and many minor raids in the day time, working life at Hiatts (now spelt with two "T's) became very difficult". Is this a paradoxon, did Hiatt made Plug-8s during/after WWII or is the Hiatt-history-information not correct?
