Hello all,
I recently purchased a pair of Hiatt darbies from Ian McColl with a left-hand thread. I'm told that this variation is less common than the standard, but have been unable to find out any more.
So, if anyone can shed any light on the following, I'd be grateful:
First, how rare is this?
Second, what's the _point_ of reverse-threading the cuffs? It seems like an aful lot of trouble to go to if the variation serves no purpose. I'm tempted to say that it's a "high security" measure (that is, requiring a non-standard key), but I'm afraid that may be wishful thinking :)
Any input?
