Hi Mac,
No, the keys for the single lock Towers and the double lock Towers are not the same. While the key for the double lock cuffs will open the single
lock Towers, the reverse is not true and the single lock key will not open Tower double lock restraints. The reason for this is a difference in the locking mechanisms of both restraints. On the Tower single lock product, the key
makes "direct contact" with the locking bolt and pulls it back to the open position. The double lock restraints contain a more complex twin lever lock mechanism where the key must have the correct heights or cuts to first raise two spring loaded levers to the exact height before the key
will turn far enough within the lock to withdraw the locking bolt. It may be of interest to note that there were at least 3 keying combinations of the Tower double lock irons. The first two had lever cuts in the key at slightly different positions. The last one, made by the Union Hardware Co.,
has no visible lever cuts in the key. Hope this has been of assistance. Kind regards, Steve Santini.: I was wanting to know if the keys for the single lock and the double lock tower cuffs is the same. I want to get a set of handcuffs and leg irons but only the leg irons come with a key. If the key will open both I will be able to get them. And thanks for the info about the froggatts cuffs.
