Dear Joseph,
Thank you for your kind words. I only hope the book will measure up to previous works on the subject.
I believe, that due to the quality of the photography and the wide range of restraints featured, that it will.
Of course, I suspect that there are the odd mistakes to be found and I fully expect all of the "experts" out there to bring them to my
attention almost as soon as the ink on the books is dry! However, having seen volumes dealing with this topic before, I sincerely believe that this will be the
ultimate work to date on the subject of restraints used throughout history. Of unique note is the fact that the lock mechanisms of each device as well as the types of keys used
are documented. To my knowledge, this has never been done in a conscise and simple to understand way before. As well, beneath each restraint pictured is a heading titled, "Markings". This denotes any
stampings and/or markings that may be present on the restraint. This should help both collectors and antique dealers in determining what they have. Sure, pictures reveal a lot, but actually knowing whose brand of Darby or other restraint
you may due to the stampings or markings should be of help to many. Finally, as my previous posting on your site mentioned, the book will also feature other restraints and not just handcuffs. This also should appeal to some people.
Once again, thank you for the encouraging words and I will let you know when it is back from the printers. Kind regards, Steve Santini.
